I agree about the genetics part, but if you get too much attention from the opposite gender you will have to set standards not necessarily height but also other things, it matters that you like the girl unless you are hopeless that you take what you can get , even tho im a non nt normie i got a fair amount of attention from girls and i didn’t care about it until i met my current gf who i got in a relationship with bcs i liked her and she met my standards

But to answer your question, it’s because most guys just roll with the girls who like them and for a lot of tall guys that’s short girls.
