You have to be extremely charismatic to pull it off tbh, or atleast have some reason to initiate conversation, which would come naturally.
I see my step father talk to random people all the time, but he is like top 1% charisma (and suprise suprise tall,good looking etc).

my father can literally talk to anyone on the street and make them his new best friend out of nowhere

it’s actually wierd to me lol he has talked to random people he’s met for like 45- min to a hour

I think it’s because he’s traveled the world for like 20 years when he was younger so he had to get good at socializing and creating a conversation on the spot.
