Why do people go to parties if they don't intend to get laid?

I honestly don't get it. It's just so fucking pointless. Why waste your time around a bunch of drunken strangers or people you barely know in real life if there is no high probability of a hook-up? So fucking pointless. Could as well buy a pizza and a 6pack and stay at home. At least then you can watch something while drinking while having pizza.
