Why do people respect real life accomplishments more than video games

This is something that bothers me ngl

You climbed mt Everest? Who gives a fuck, thousands of people have done that. only a handful of people have Minecraft speedruns under 9 minutes

You can play the piano and speak multiple languages? With the same time commitment I 100%'d Skyrim and beat the dark souls trilogy broken sword only

People need to realize virtual universes are just as real as their conscious manifestations

idk about this in general, but since you mentioned it, i always found mountain climbing extremely pointless

i have a couple of friends who are into that and hiking, and i always feel bad for them when they post a new pic of them reaching a high point of another mountain

It’s just using your fitness/endurance to get a massive dopamine hit

yeah, but it's not the ideal activity for neither of those purposes. there are much better options if you want to stay in shape/experience an adventure or a risk of some kind or just fix your mood
