Why do people do this? What is the point? I see it so often, someone will make a rate me thread and the photos of themselves are uncropped screenshots from snapchat or their gallery. Why not just send the source image?

Gives then a sense of safety

This, depending on your phone settings and the site you're posting to it could give away your location if you post directly from your camera gallery

Some photos won’t load because they are to old are they lost them in the gallery so they take a screenshot so it comes back on top

On android and apple phones it's easy to turn off the GPS data and then turn it back on once you've taken your photos.
The admins know all of our usual IP address that we connect from, so they know what country and what city each user is from. Unless you're using a proxy.
I am also sure that after you upload your photos, any metadata is removed by the site before being accessible to users. (However that's not to say it isn't stored somewhere on the site.)
I uploaded an image with location data. If you download it and open File Explorer to the folder it's downloaded to, it should report that it was taken from Brussels in Germany. If it doesn't, the metadata isn't delivered to users. I'm curious myself.

It happened once. Some oldcel posted his mug. The image contained EXIF data which pin-pointed his direct location. It was some village in England.
