to answer this question, they are doing something very common with vegans which is "purity spiralling" - when your identity is based on being holier than thou, they aren't satisfied with simply being "holier than thou" compared to outsiders, but also compete in their own circle. The escalation goes like this eating more meat makes me better, only eating meat makes me better, eating some raw meat makes me better, eating only raw meat makes me better, eating raw organs makes me better, putting blood on your face from the raw organs makes me better. To us outsiders this looks retarded (and it is) but for them, that is the internal logic of how they arrive to that picture.
