Why do some men look worse from a side profile?

Something I wondered about is why some men look so much better from a front view and worse from a side profile.

What's going on there? My hunch is that to have a good side profile you need a forwardly grown chin and some men have great features, just not that one facial feature like meeks. But maybe there is more to it.
