Hardly anyone has perfect oral+body posture, especially tall people leaning over all the time. Since they were subject to higher than average GH, their faces just grew like everyone elses, but more (most people's faces grow downwards but for tall people it's worse)
That's my theory.
Also the NBA is an exception as all athletes are basically required to have optimal bone structure to perform at that level due to their large airways. It's not like they just took some random tall guys off the street.
