I understand that Finasteride is a 5ar inhibitor, while RU58841 is an anti-androgen, so they affect different aspects of the hair loss pathway. But it seems like RU gets to the core of hair loss, blocking all androgens that bind to the hair follicles themselves, while Finasteride will actually increase scalp testosterone, while of course decreasing DHT.

So why do you need Finasteride at all? Is it best to just use them both to be safe? It seems like finasteride alone will actually harm some people because of the increase in scalp testosterone, and some peoples hair are really sensitive to that. So it needs to be combined with an anti androgen.

Who said you NEED to
Fighting it both systemically and inhibiting the androgenic receptors is more efficient but if one is enough to stop your norwooding I dont see why you would need the other one
MPMD Derek uses solely RU58841 and it seems to be working fine for him
