About 700 years before Jesus, the prophet Isaiah wrote that the Messiah would suffer and die for the sins of others in **Book of Isaiah chapter 53.
It describes someone who would:
• be rejected by his people
• suffer for others' sins
• be pierced
• die with the wicked but be buried with the rich
Christians believe this was fulfilled in the life and death of Jesus Christ, especially during the Crucifixion of Jesus.
Example from Isaiah 53:
“He was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities.”
This was written centuries before the crucifixion yet closely matches what happened to Jesus.
