Let’s see:
- He was mentally ill - He refused to seek treatment for his myriad illnesses and that definitely doesn’t attract too many female partners.
- He was unable to control his emotional states and actions - Rodger threw hot coffee on TWO separate groups of people; however he was not arrested for those incidents. He also tried to assault some girls at a party and he was assaulted by some male friends of the girls afterward. Basically Rodger could not control his emotional states (probably due to his untreated mental illnesses) and that also doesn’t attract women.
- He seems to have believed that other people were supposed to tolerate his immaturity and volatile personality - For reasons that they haven’t made clear. Rodger’s parents never taught him how to socialize and they also don’t seem to have sought the family counseling that was needed to improve their situation. People might have tolerated his eccentricities had he been a nicer person. However he wasn’t and they didn’t.
- He seems to have been more than a little racist - Frankly, Rodger seem to have adopted racial attitudes that made him unappealing as a person. If he had been in an area where the majority of people were White or biracial like himself that MIGHT have been tolerable. However he was in a multi-ethnic environment and his racism probably alienated the few girls and young women who were willing overlook his other personality and character flaws.
- He seems to have set his sights on women who were out of his “league” - While he wasn’t a bad looking young man, his myriad other issues made it unlikely that the women he wanted to like him would bother with him. While most people would set more realistic goals, Rodger decided to whine, complain, and then ultimately kill people and then himself, instead.
