Why does it take so long to open the images on 4chan?

Format like an early 2000s website

Why is it like this?

The website is so minimal yet so slow for me yet this site is fine

Its because the images on there are typically large and high resolution and most importantly they load totally uncompressed. Whenever you go watch a video or load an image on a regular site its compressed, so it might say its in 1080p or its a 1080x1920 image but really its not that high resolution, its a lower resolution image with lots of finer details removed in the compression process. Also, many sites have a sort of cloud processing model, where all the work is done by their servers and then you view the end product, but with 4chan their servers simply store and allow you to access the threads with your computer and internet having to do all the work. And im sure theres some other stuff that i dont know about, but for me the images on 4chan definitely do load slow.

And the format on the site has been unchaged since it was made in the early 2000s, i think thats the idea of the style, to keep it just like it always was. It does cut down on the loading time for everything else

It's mostly this, bar the processing part. Rather bandwidth limitations to save on costs.
Tinder for example compresses pictures down to a few hundreds of kb, from 2-10mb of data. Also better servers.
Got to be low iq to want to change the format of the website, when the format is what made it in the first place.
Nip tech in the end.
There are scripts for that it's simple stuff.
