Why does makeup exist

I do not see a reason for makeup other then frauding, this is no offense to girls but think about it, WHy is there a need for makeup, its short term, it goes away after sleeping, it takes ages, no there good looking women withoit makeup, yes. but thats rare, every time a women will have makeup, why not use natural beauty, you will be known as a whole other person, now im not saying they look bad without but just be your natural self, its just made for short term excitement or something?
