why does my skin react less to 0.1% tretinoin than 0.05%?

you know the normal red flaky stage you get after you begin using tretinoin, i got it really bad when using 0.05% tretinoin

but since starting 0.1% my skin basically feels moisturised, with a little bit of itching the next day (that i don't scratch)

why would i get less of a negative reaction to tretinoin that is twice as strong as 0.05%?

skincare channels even say 0.1% benefits aren't even worth it because of the potential for irritation being too strong

No clue tbh, I used the 0.05 for a week, so after switching over to the 0.1, I just assumed the reason for the reduction in irritation was my skin being acclimated/ got over the purge stage

interesting  on the bright side it makes it easier for me to incorporate vitamin c and glycolic acid peels for greater results than just tretinoin alone

Noice, I use vitamin c serum in the mornings, before moisturizer and sunscreen
On alternate nights when I'm not using tret, I use BHA, niacinamide, and alpha arbutin

you should consider adding copper peptides and AHA chemical peels

also niacinamide can be used alongside both vitamin c and tretinoin so you don't have to keep them separate in your routine

Think I've heard as well that niacinamide works well with tret to reduce irritation while also not interfering with it's effectiveness so I'll def try this out :feelsgood:

If it's a different vehicle then it can I think, as in different ingredients

is there a benefit to suing 0.1 i thought it just worked quicker

is there a benefit to suing 0.1 i thought it just worked quicker
that's the main benefit, it works quicker, it's the most powerful tretinoin you can get

I use tretinoin 0.05% three times a week and it works without side effects

yeah i'm just confused why i'm getting no side effects even from 0.1%

but i guess it's a good thing as it allows me to use more actives in my routine without irritation
