Why does recessed chin make your face look long?

I’ve noticed that even if midface isn’t long, recessed chin will make your entire face go horse mode from the front view. Why is this? Why does chin save you from horse face?

Cause your chin is shorter so the midface will most likely look longer in comparison.

That’s what I thought. I will ascend with genio, it will legit fix my midface in relation to my jaw.

my only choice is to go to raffaini, want to do a ccw jaw surgery and then i will ascend very hard, there are more surgeons who do that shit too, but i'd trust raffaini a lot, fuck eppley

Because it makes your midface look disproportionate to your lower third

It's not necessarily the fact that a recessed chin looks vertically shorter thus making the other thirds look longer besides, chin recession with vertical excess height isn't an uncommon deformity. imo it has to do with depth perception, i.e. the 2 other thirds of the face technically look brighter, even slightly, than the lower third so you end up with the central area becoming the dominant part of the face.
