Another reason could be that they’re already interested in someone else, maybe they’re in a relationship. Another reason could be that you think you have a decent reputation, maybe in their eyes they have a different opinion. Also, if it’s been known that you’ve asked a lot of women out, they could use that against you as well. Or maybe they are from a higher socio-economic class and they want someone from the same class.
