Why have my teeth never moved after braces

I had braces a while ago, and they gave me a plastic retainer to wear at night so they don’t shift and move.

I never fucking wore it. Ever. My teeth are still perfectly aligned, just more wide now, like pallet expanded or something since the retainer no longer fits.

I was under the impression that without maintaining with retainer your teeth would get fucked and go back to old position.

Is this not the case? Why have mine remained aligned?

Do we just have good habits / posture etc to maintain results without use of retainers? I mean, mine don’t fit anymore, but still perfectly straight.

after my braces from 12-15 years old they put a small metal rod in the back of my top teeth to keep it aligned. First thing my retarded ass did when i went home, i used scissors to remove it. im 21 now and my top teeth are still perfectly aligned.

in some cases it is, ive seen video of people saying their front teeth shifted and reformed their gap in just a couple of nights, its probably really based on specific cases etc. your teeth also technically shifted since you did say your retainer dont fit anymore, for how long have you stopped wearing it? i also almost never wore it for years and i had slight shifting but nothing horrible

i have it on the back of my lower front teeth, i think it actually gave me chin assimetry i would prefer getting rid of it even, did you really just used scissors? how did you detached it from the teeth then?

Yeah they have shifted I guess, but it just made my smile wider since my teeth are still perfectly aligned. So it’s only positive if anything.

Over 2 years of never wearing it, I basically never wore it anyway since I always broke that shit.

i dont know much but narrow palate=crowded teeth so that it may as you've said, palate got wider maybe

i grabbed what ever that had a sharp but blunt edge so i didnt cut myself (pen etc). it took me a while but eventually i removed it all. I still got on bit of the rod thats stuck to one of my teeth.

depends. if you never had an expander before and just got braces straight away then maybe yea your teeth will go back to being crowded. I think i got an expander when i was 8 but i dont remember

im under the perception that the idea of realigning the teeth through this means is shit and that orthodontist should look into helping to develope a wider palate and maxilla/mandible capable of holding all the teeth with no crowding, it may have been a good choice not to wear it BUT that shit is expensive af if it broke that easily i would be angry (i just fucking lost mine JFL)

yea i had that too. my mom was the one who put it on for me since she was my dentist. She later that day walked into my room catching me put a pencil on the roof of my mouth trying to pry it out

yep thats 100% a palate expander, my orthodontist didnt give me one even tho she said i have a small mouth, her dumb ass just left me with a narrow palate

They started me with pallet expander I think, then braces.

Then since the treatment finished I just didn’t wear the retainer. Glad I didn’t since probaby it expanded my pallet enough for me to have proper posture and then my pallet continued to expand. At least that’s what I think happened idk.
