Why I don't gamble.

For me, gambling always results in an asymmetrical reward structure. Mostly it is the asymmetry of how I feel after I win or lose a wager. If I win, I get a good feeling that lasts about 5 minutes. If I lose, I get a bad feeling that lasts about 5 days, longer if it is a lot of money. Secondly there is the asymmetry of the financial reward, if I win a lot of money I will be given a 1099 and have to pay taxes on the winnings, if I lose there isn't much I can do to deduct the losses since I am not a professional gambler.
