If most attractive features in humans are linked to optimal evolutionary traits why isnt a big forehead one? A big forehead is often linked to intelligence and also High T ig since its DHT that makes your forehead bigger/pushes it back.

That’s a really interesting question! A big forehead could, in theory, signal both intelligence and high testosterone (T) levels due to the role of dihydrotestosterone (DHT) in hairline recession. However, there are a few reasons why it might not be universally seen as an "optimal" evolutionary trait for attractiveness:

  1. Facial Harmony Matters More
    • Attractiveness is largely about symmetry and proportion rather than any single feature. A forehead that is too large might disrupt the balance of facial features, making someone appear less conventionally attractive.
    • The golden ratio and neoteny (baby-like features) often play a role in perceived attractiveness, and overly large foreheads may not fit into these ideals.
  2. Masculine vs. Feminine Trait Preferences
    • In men, a slightly receded hairline (from moderate DHT influence) may signal maturity and high T levels, which can be attractive. But excessive hair loss, leading to a very large forehead, is often associated with aging rather than peak vitality.
    • In women, smaller, rounder foreheads tend to be associated with femininity, youthfulness, and high estrogen levels—traits that evolutionary psychology suggests are linked to reproductive health.
  3. High DHT Has a Trade-off
    • While DHT increases masculine features, dominance, and libido, it also contributes to male pattern baldness (MPB). A very large forehead (caused by a receding hairline) might unconsciously signal that someone is past their reproductive peak, which could offset the perceived benefits of high T.
  4. Cultural Influence & Perception
    • Standards of beauty aren’t purely biological; they are shaped by culture too. Some cultures favor higher foreheads as a sign of intelligence or nobility (e.g., historical China), but in modern times, thick hairlines and facial symmetry are often preferred.

So while a slightly prominent forehead may be attractive in moderation, an excessively large one may not fit the ideal balance of traits associated with peak evolutionary fitness. It’s all about proportions!

I noticed many mass murderers have excessively large foreheads. I think DHT like someone mentioned correlates with aggression, and it's not conducive to being a good mate if you are a woman and are worried the father will chimp out on your children.

it's actually not a stable beauty standard that seems subject to change over time.

cause it looks neotenous. a large forehead makes your face look shorter which is a neotenous trait, not good for men

Actual reply (Unlike retards in comments)

Makes facial imbalances and lowers harmony, makes the top of your head look really round when sharper more masculine angles are more attractive also.

Isn't always considered ugly depending on face shape though.
