Why is bullying the only “cope” people see a cause/effect to?

It seems like bullying is the only coping mechanism where people are willing to discuss the underlying reasons.
It’s a trope that bullies only act the way they do to project the treatment they get from their family. If someone’s bullying you, they must get bullied at home, or have an abusive older brother, etc
