Why is gym so expensive

I want to gymmax soon but the prices are annoying me ngl. Like 30 bucks a month just so I can lift heavy objects. And I have to pay more the first month as well.

Isn't the gym just a fucking scam? Why aren't we just lifting rocks or something.

Are you in the United States? Do they have a budget gym that is better than Planet Fitness over there? Because I hear that Planet Fitness really sucks for weight lifting. I was only with Planet Fitness for a month before I switched to a different budget gym. I pay $7.90 CAD every 2 weeks. And $50 CAD + 13% tax per year for my gym membership and I have all the weights I need. Only issue is there's only 3 squat racks, a Smith machine and only one adjustable straight barbell and adjustable ez barbell for deadlifts and rows. But you can do deadlifts on the smith machine if its not being used as well. There's no deadlift platform. But I don't attempt 1 rep PR maxes and I don't drop the barbell on the floor, I let it down gently, so they let me do deadlifts at the lighter weights.

The membership fee is a way to weed the scum.

Higher-end gyms have higher fees but you will mostly only meet people you want to be like.

At the cheaper gyms, you will meet cheap people, gym tourists (they will workout for a month), people with dad bods, and people doing dumb exercises.
