All experts on bodybuilding forums are telling: "t levels dont matter for naturals, as long as you are in the reference range".
But then why is it harder for oldcels to gain muscles? Is the t level really not that important?

yes of course its important...

jfl if T isn't important try injecting testosterone enanthate and just don't do any exercise for a few weeks. React "JFL" if you don't gain at least a few kg of muscle.

Yes of course, but then your levels will be far away from natural reference range.

That doesn't make sense. Even logically, if a large increase in blood T causes a significant increase in muscle mass (and loss of fat too), we can say that smaller (but still significant) differences within the natural reference range also make a difference. The difference between a 400 ng/dl man and a 800 ng/dl man (both within reference range) will be massive. Doesn't matter if it's natural or exogenous. T is T.

Makes sense.
But in the end, only free t (and shbg) matters.

higher t levels, longer metabolic window, faster recovery

its way more complicated than just being high T it also has to do with growth hormone, collagen, ligaments , ur joints these are all in their prime and start degrading at 25 T starts getting worse after 20 probably

though being higher T will mean more muscle and more strength (conversion from dht)

I gained muscle very easily at 17 and lost fat at the same time
If you're 17 and don't gain muscle easily you got shit genes
