Why is it that whenever I get a compliment on my looks my instant reaction is to think I’m being trolled?

I know I’m not that gl so I instantly start running scenarios as to how the compliment could actually be a veiled insult/mockery/sarcasm

instead of being able to just accept the compliment
(I am relatively self aware so I do smile and say thanks but then I run the scenarios)
