Why is short hair so popular and forced

I have longer hair not very long but like Mid long it goes a litle over my ears and on top i find it okay and my hair doesnt even cover all of my forehead just half a litle more than half and people keep asking me when will i get a haircut to have short hair even tho short hair look super ugly on me longer hair suits me better and i have friends who have shorter hair than me and still get asked why wont they cut it all to make it super short idk what is up with people to have obsesions with super short hair

I have a friend with a bit greasy hair and it doesnt realy look good he would look good in a shorter on the sides and the front is styled and covers his forehead a bit i guess it deppend on the person
