Nowdays due to the sheer hypergamy women emit , most societies are being transformed into something more resembling of a pride structure or lions or gorrilas rather than traditional human societies.
First , lets see how different human socities functioned.

And then we have Christianity , which despite the fact that it had some problems initially with polygamy as they converted the polygamous romans , but managed to create true monogamy.
This explains why European dynasties were 2x more long lasting than Moorish ones, which often collapsed due to millitarycels killing their ruler.
Of course, very rich rulers werent all keen on that , especially when the power of the church declines in the 1700s.
