I need to make a thread about this subject of violence in Latin America. It's incredibly underrated and underreported due to it serving the interests of the US. They literally have more deaths in some countries like Mexico than war torn places.

It showcases the power of the media and how they can whitewash anything they want and make it fly under the radar unless there is a clash of powers and strong wills. In Latin America there isn't that crash, there are the Narcos benefitting for making a living and getting the monopoly of power the US benefiting even more by destabilizing their neighbouring countries so that they never have a potential Ukraine at their door, and some of the most corrupt and ideologically empty politicians you can imagine benefitting from that money flow from all sides and not willing to risk anything (If Latin America was muslim, you would see a lot more opposition to Narcos because there would be an established ideological backbone to oppose their ways, but in places with no real ideology and causes to believe in there isn't something that can compete with money)
