The hunter-gatherer lifestyle (300k–10k years ago) was optimal because it matched human biology perfectly: people lived outdoors, moved constantly but naturally (walking, climbing, hunting), ate diverse, whole foods, had strong social bonds, minimal chronic stress, no clocks, and no chronic diseases — a life deeply connected to nature, community, and survival without modern overload. They may have had shorter lifespans due to injury or infection, but not due to heart disease, obesity, or anxiety — the diseases of modern comfort.
