I think the powers that be are rubbing their hands with glee at the whole looksmaxxing trend because the more people become obsessed with looksmaxxing, the more people consooom by spending money on cosmetic surgery.
Also men will begin spending more an more money on their appearance which is what they want
You could argue they want the dating market completely broken (suck everyone into dating apps then change the algorithms so nobody gets success from them) so that men spend more money trying to self improooove / looksmax to secure a foid but they end up just being a hamster on a wheel going nowhere.
They thought the demographic shifts had gone too far already and the current wave of nationalism and fighting back was an unforeseen roadbump to their plans
