I wish it was.

I think a key factor in this is age and maturity. Many people get darker hair after growing out of childhood, most blonde people too.

But also, it has been the beauty standard for men to be darker than women for thousands of years. In Rome, women were kept inside, away from sunlight to look paler whilst the men did the opposite for this very reason.

I think both of these culminate in blonde hair being associated with femininity and youth. Especially as nowadays it is popular amongst women and gays to dye their hair blonde, I believe fake blonde’s outnumber natural ones by 10:1 in some western countries.
