Wrong statement.
I recall reading this study. That tracked for both men and women: what they said they found important (most studies stop there) AND what their behaviour was.

Conclusion of the study/research:
women understate how important they find looks in a mal, there was a bof gap/discrapency there. And, women found looks only slightly (almost error margin) less important then men find it.
And we all know how important men find looks.
