A caloric deficit WILL stunt growth. However, you can still lose weight without cutting calories. Simply eat in maintenance and weight train + since your sporty, you'll burn more calories during your games, assuming it requires a high metabolic demand.

Although, I would still recommend eating at a surplus to maximize height as much as possible, since you will not grow once your growth plates are fused.

What do you mean by unecessary muscle? Unless you go on a huge deficit, neglect your protein intake and not weight train, you will lose no muscle. In short, you will not lose any muscle while in maintenance.

Oxalates will stunt your growth and not eating enough fat soluble vitamins, calcium and collagen will. Not calories
