Im on accutane since january and IM STILL GETTING NEW ACNE like how is that even possible

Yesterday i went to a dermatologist and she extended my course for 1 more month which means 1 more month of not being able to drink and being ND at parties which i can't take anymore.

BUT THE BIGGER PROBLEM IS MY FKCING SKIN i still have skin full of PIE hyperpigmentation and big red areas and a few scars which affects almost all aspects of my life as im forced to wear make up i can't even get a gf bc im scared the girls would find out

and the worst part is i have a few HTB's i could easily slay if i committed but i just have a mental block because of my skin

i was on 40 mg for the first 3 months then 50mg for the next 3 months and last month i was on 60mg

Accutane doesn’t get rid of scars it only smooths out the former bumps and makes it so you don’t get acne again. You skin has scared, you usually need to do to a dermatologist and have them laver and needle the scars to give your skin pigmentation back.

Yes we share the same suffering, no i quit skincare thats the thing that ruined my skin, i only wash my face with a gentle cleanser and i put a basic moisturizer every night

Always when i get acne i think what am i doing wrong like im eating 0 sweets, working out not stressing to much im very hygienic AND im on accutane for already 7 months, there is absolutely no reason to get new acne but my skin just doesn't care and it proceeds to ruin my life

You could maybe try to gaslight your brain into believing that acne will clear up, sometimes it changes the brain chemistry and works. Accutane should work tho, maybe your body is not tolerating it well.

All you can do is stay on it for longer. Ik kids that had to do it for a year+ before they got amazing results. Usually it takes 6-7 months but its person dependent. The fact ur derma is only giving u 1 more month on it is insane to me.

You should've been on 1mg/kg since the beginning. It's the maximum recommended dose. You need to have 120mg to 150mg per kg at the end of your treatment. So if you weight 60kg you should have 7200mg to 9000mg of accutane in total in your body.

Iirc accutane doesnt help ur situation too much cause i think im seeing alot of pie. And lwky u need taz/tret for that and it takes time. Accutane doesnt help tho, but wont be a heavy hitter. Im on accutane rn too. Like 10mgs for the past 2 months and it cleared everything. But i still have pie/uneven tone. Rn im stay on for a bit then in 2 months switch to taz to hit the tone/texture/pigmin./etc
