For nearly all people, the ideology/rhetoric they grew up with, greatly dictates their thought process when confronted with revisionist views.

It's like people who ridicule Flat Earthers (I don't know/care if the earth is round or flat, for the record) for believing the earth is flat.
The only reason they ridicule them is because they have always been told and taught that the earth is a spinning ball.

Now if you reverse the roles, and let's say that from a young age, everyone is told the earth is flat, those very same people who mock Flat Earthers, would now mock those who would claim the earth is round.

Yet in neither of the 2 scenario's, any critical thinking is applied. People only want to believe what they are told.
