"What does palate expansion do?" Well, obviously, it expands your palate. But judging by your tone, it sounds like you're just looking for an excuse to thumbpull for the love of the game and not because you need it. Imagine if your doctor prescribed you medicine for a disease he wasnโ€™t even sure you had, makes no sense, right? Thumbpulling is supposed to be a solution to a problem, not some random experiment you do for fun. In fact, if you donโ€™t actually need it, you might just end up making things worse.

Now, let's break down why this idea is flawed:
  1. Time Waste โ€“ Thumbpulling for two hours a day? Seriously? You really have nothing better to do? If the answer is no, find something. Read a book, pick up a hobby, go outside, literally anything is better than spending hours yanking on your face like a dumbass.
  2. Asymmetry Risk โ€“ Youโ€™re 14, so your bones arenโ€™t fully fused yet, meaning palate expansion could technically happen. But hereโ€™s the catch: your thumbs canโ€™t apply even pressure on both sides like a proper orthodontic device can. That means you might just end up warping your face in a way that makes you look worse, not better.
  3. Ineffectiveness โ€“ The reason professional orthodontic devices work is that they apply consistent and controlled pressure, carefully adjusted by specialists. You, on the other hand, have neither the expertise to measure how much pressure is needed nor the ability to sustain it long enough to cause meaningful change (and not even if you do it for 2 hours).
Hereโ€™s an analogy for you: Itโ€™s theoretically possible for your hand to pass through a solid table. if all the atoms in your hand perfectly aligned to avoid the tableโ€™s atoms. But the odds of that happening? Astronomically low. Even if you spent a lifetime punching a table, youโ€™d never phase through it. Just because something is theoretically possible doesnโ€™t mean it translates to reality in a way that works for you.

So, in short, thumbpulling is a dumb idea. If you genuinely think you need palate expansion, go see a professional. If not, stop trying to brute-force biology and go do something more productive with your time, a couple suggestions... Exercise, read a book, read an audiobook, learn a skill like coding, playing an instrument, hang out with friends, or anything you enjoy that doesn't actively harm you.

teeth a good, just slight overbite but doctors said I dont need braces

is your smile wide or narrow? that will determine how much you really need the expander.

go to a orthodontist and ask them to xray your palate. if you're 14 a palate expander is a good way to ensure proper maxilla development until your 18 which will help greatly with your looks. however after 16 palate expander is cope so do it while you can.

Do you want my opinion on thumbpulling or just general advice? Well, hereโ€™s both. Thumbpulling? Donโ€™t do it, or at least, do it at your own risk. I highly doubt you'd benefit much from it anyway. The supposed effects are overhyped, and the risk of asymmetry is real. If youโ€™re looking for facial improvements, there are far better and proven ways to achieve them.

As per other advice, you have pretty soft features, so your best bet is prettyboymaxxing (look into it yourself, Iโ€™m not opening that can of worms here) and ditching the afro. Softmaxxing techniques will likely be enough to make you attractive, but beyond that, your priority should be maximizing health and growth while you're still developing. That means optimizing your bone structure, height, and overall masculinity, which is actually pretty simple:
  • Diet: Eat 0.8 to 1g of protein per pound of body weight, even if you donโ€™t work out. Get 20% to 30% of your calories from fat, and fill the rest with carbs. Prioritize whole foods: beef, eggs, organ meats, fruits, leafy greens, potatoes, rice, etc. Minimize processed junk and aim for a slight caloric surplus. Consider supplementing magnesium glycinate and vitamin D3.
  • Sleep: 9 hours per night. No screens 30 minutes before bed. Period.
  • Circadian Rhythm: Sleep at consistent times daily (e.g., in bed by 10 PM, up by 7 AM).
  • Sunlight: Get 15 to 30 minutes of direct sunlight daily, ideally in the morning and evening.
  • Stress: Minimize it. Meditate, do breathwork, chill out. Chronic stress stunts growth and messes up your hormones.
  • Exercise: Weightlifting or calisthenics with proper form and gradual progression. Sprinting is also good. Above all, donโ€™t injure yourself.
Honestly, most young guys waste time obsessing over softmaxxing or hardmaxxing when all they really need to do is grow up properly. If you neglect the fundamentals of health, you risk stunting your height and ending up with an overly neotenous face by the time you stop growing. Donโ€™t make that mistake. Focus on the basics now and stick to them religiously.

At the end of the day, do whatever you want, it's your life. But donโ€™t go too deep down that rabbit hole, at least not yet. This isnโ€™t the time to be thinking about surgeries or extreme hardmaxxing methods. Save that for when youโ€™re at least nearing the end of puberty, 16, 17, or 18. Even then, itโ€™s a stretch. More often than not, people who go down that path too early just end up depressed, insecure, and stuck with a botched surgery they didnโ€™t even need in the first place.

yeah, I understand

U have either side bending rotation or torsion. Look these up and do research on them yourself u wonโ€™t find answers on this website. Cranium autist and Mewology on TikTok. Jordan wood is also a good one.
wym?

Itโ€™s a cranial torsion, itโ€™s why your face is assymetrical and one eye is lower than the other. I am basing that off of one picture though so Iโ€™m not entirely sure but look into it

if im being honest palate expansion will always give you minimal results. but if you have the money and your palate is narrow i dont see why you wouldn't do it.
