A study had 67 people who havent eaten in atleast 3 hours, walk into a room with a bowl of chocolate chip cookies, and the other bowl filled with radishes. half were told that they had to eat the radishes, and the other could eat the cookies.
After that they were told to solve a impossible puzzle. The people who ate the radishes gave up in 8 minutes and the people who ate the cookies gave up in 19 minutes while the control group gave up in 21 minutes.

Make a list of what you use your willpower on, figure out how to not spend valuable willpower on useless junk by cutting it out completely or other by other methods.

your brain is incapable of experiencing pleasure above a level, bigger pleasure simply doesnt exist. in such cases of huge neutrotransmitters imbalance it does other stuff that counteract it. close ur receptors, make u pass out / vomit , die etc until things are regulated

brains dont have some untapped secret area that gives near infinite joy kek. the brain doesnt actually care about our pleasure, in fact pleasure doesnt exist or is massively weak. our brains keep us deluded in chasing these pleasures in order to survive

Synthetic dopamine is widespread tho, u get it from doing a mission in a game, getting an updoot, music or cooming to corn. All online and irrelevant, you’ve achieved nothing yet your brain rewards you. Supposed to get it through real life experiences - sex, compliments, promotions

People become evil as a result of how they were raised typically. A professor did a study to find who on his roll were psychopaths, he found one. It turned out to be himself, despite this he had a great life. Loving family, good career and finances

I guess this is a good arguement for something like GLP-1 agonists, spend less willpower on cutting. Perhaps the same for stimulants for studying etc.

i was just thinking back to this

will efficiency is inherent to success

having info that isn’t absolute or whole, which is in all complex systems, mental distortions of it to make your actions more or less efficient

people don’t realize the effects of complex systems and will judge based off the immediate effects of one ant in a ant colony, when doing that will not predict the whole ant colony

info doesn’t have to be correct for correct judgement and info can be correct and not make correct judgement based off that info

Btw I'm a rookie in terms of understanding scientific terminologies.

Can you tell what is meant by "Control Group"? Is it a group where people were not given either radishes or cookies?
