With natural ccw rotation, do the bones shorten or just shift?

For example, if we apply forward-upward pressure to the anterior palate of a person with unfused sutures, causing counterclockwise rotation to shorten the midface (primarily the nose), does this simply rotate the maxilla, or does it also cause bone resorption in the midface and actual shortening? In other words, by applying clockwise/counterclockwise rotation with constant pressure, are we actually changing the bones, or simply moving the existing ones?

allat bumping and no answer:lul:

No, you cant really shorten your midface even with surgery, it just rotates the maxilla.

both but there is no resoption happening the opposite actually

nothing happens because you cant get natural ccw rotation.

Not really sure what you mean by counter clockwise rotation. Do you mean counter clockwise like this?

The bones js shift into the correct position im pretty sure maybe slightly bone resorption if theres terrible forward growth in the wrong position

@Grievous this is what i mean by greys invading and spreading missinfo this dudes actually gonna believe he can get natural ccw rotation

This can be achieved by applying pressure regularly for several hours a day when the sutures are not fully fused. An orthodontic face mask works on the same principle, but it simply pushes the maxilla forward and downward. I achieved the rotation myself, but clockwise, by pressing more on the back of my palate than on the front. Now I'm wondering if my nose actually lengthened or if my upper jaw simply rotated. I need a way to reverse this. Make no mistake, it work, dude.

In proportions probably, but osteoclasts responds mildly to bone to bone stress in development more remodeling than direct resorption ,so since unfused sutures means pro-development , expect more bone not less

Dude, give me one reason why, if you apply constant, uninterrupted pressure to the right spots on the maxilla for at least 10 hours a day, someone with unfused sutures won't have it move for a couple of months. You can't.

except it cant. you could with a facemask tho thats acctually attached to your fucking head and your mouth

because a facemask puts actual mechanical pressure and is attatched to your shit vs your fingers you need actual mechanical pressure with some sort of device in your maxilla/mouth

yes, the occlusal plane angle changes, the gonial angle improves, the face becomes more compact

just cause you saw a tiktok edit doesnt mean its right dumbass nigga

Do you think the fact that my nose has become longer is due to actual lengthening by adding bone tissue, or just a simple clockwise rotation? I've been hard mewing, putting more pressure on the back of the palate, and my face has become longer. I'm wondering if this can be reversed by applying pressure to the front of the palate.

I've been thinking about this because I'm a couple mm from being a horsecel. I'm no expert but from what I've gathered it’s mostly redistribution rather than actual bone loss. During growth, rotation isn’t bones literally rotating or shortening, but changes in growth direction and remodeling at sutures and surfaces. The total amount of bone stays about the same, it just ends up positioned differently basically. Which can make the midface or nose look shorter or longer without the bones actually shrinking.

Excellent answer, thank you. So, theoretically, if I accidentally rotate my maxilla clockwise by continuously pressing on the back palate, can this be reversed by pressing on the front palate? Will my nose become shorter?

How do you know this? Are you sure?
yes, if it was the case then downgrown structures would be elongating which they “are” but they’re not, it’s remodeling not modeling

I didn't quite understand your answer. Take, for example, clockwise rotation, as in my case. My nose has become longer, and my mouth has moved further from my eyes. In my case, did the maxilla itself simply rotate as a whole bone? Or did I simply grow more downward and grow less forward? In other words, is there a rotation of the bone as a whole, or a downward and backward remodeling?

I suppose it would look shorter from the front, which is what I suppose is what you're after. If you're gonna do something like that then you might as well just start mewing and press on the whole palate, seems to have more research behind it than what you're proposing. Don't quote me on this but I don't think your nose will become physically shorter because it's not even bone mostly, just cartillage and flesh attached to the nose bridge.

If you're looking for actual physical changes then you might have to do a nose job. The other option is literally making your maxilla shorter, for that you gotta do some kinda le fort shit but you must be unbelivably chopped to even consider something that invasive. Doing that for purely aesthetic reasons seems completely outrageous. (picture from le fort 2 procedure attached)

Thanks for your help. The thing is, it's the damn mewing that's making me ask this question. It's apparently caused my upper jaw to rotate clockwise. My nose has gotten longer, my mouth has sunk lower relative to my eyes, and my midface ratio has dropped from 1 to 0.95. A clockwise rotation is definitely doable at my age, but I was stupid enough to decide to put pressure on my posterior palate :cry:

The maxilla is kinda rotated downwards but also recessed. People with recessed maxillas have problems with breathing because the maxilla is pushed so far back into ther face that it embarrasses the throat, meaning that the only way to get air in and out is by opening the mouth and lowering the tongue, ie mouth breathing. But basically all this talk about where the maxilla is exactly when recessed isn't really important it's just that the maxilla is not positioned correctly, bone isn't being created or destroyed when it's repositioned correctly.

I can't really understand how it's even possible for you to have recessed your face with mewing, how can you place a force upwards on the maxilla and have it swing downwards? Could you share before and after pictures?
