In relationships, in general women hold the power most.

* In a society without wellfare and child-support systems from government; and a balanced gender ratio.
1. Before 1st sex happens, woman have alot more power the man. Because men need/want sex more then women (hugh dick supply, limited pussy supply.)
2. After 1st time sex happens, man may have a little bit more power. Since plenty women like to get commitement and excusivity and some resources after that. Women need/want excusivity-investment more then men.
3. After commitment from man, woman has more power. She managed to make herself the sole source of sex and made him give up other options making him more dependant on her (for sex), while she could get dick within hours if she wants to.
4. After a child, man has more power. Because she needs him for support, and resources.

In a society with rampant wellfare systems, like in most Western countries. Above description doesn't work like that foten. Because women can rely on government for their needs/wants; and thus making the man obsolete. So she still has all the power then. Especially in step 4, is that the case. Where the governement help women with wellfare; plus for exmaple the governement helps her by forcing man to pay excessive amounts of "child-support" every month to the woman. So she still holds the power then, because of the government/society laws and programs
