Myth that ratio of attractive women is increasing while men's attractiveness is averaging or declining, hence it's harder for regular men, is bogus. If anything women's looks peaked some time in the 70's and 80s, and has declined, mostly because of genetics and obesity. In this case, especially if we are talking about "prime" women i.e. 18-26 year college aged females.

Makeup is better nowadays and women use more of it so they fraud their beauty more.

Also smartphones and selfies give them toe power to angle fraud.. back i the 60s.. you got snapped on an old fashioned camera and that was that.. you looked normal

There is a twist, though: The older you get, the more older women you will find attractive. I realize it seems hard to imagine finding a 40 + year old woman attractive if you're 20. But when you get over 30, you start to see 20 something girls are "cute" but not as womanly enough for you. It's kind of odd, but true. Although in general you will prefer younger women, but you start to notice more mature beauty more.
