But to your point, yes, women have a greater in-group preference ( see: this link) which extends to their own gender. While women are automatically 'on the same team' because they're women, men are not. Interestingly, this in-group preference extends to other things as well, so for example, women have a greater distrust of people outside their friend group / social circle than men. There are clear evolutionary reasons why this might be the case.

This is why women will side with their female friends / other women even when it's obvious they're in the wrong. There's no solution to this because men are naturally in competition with one another. Just be aware of this phenomenon and prepare yourself to expect it.
