It just struck me that a likely explanation for women not dating their looksmatch if he's average, is that the average man has fallen very far from what the average was 100+ years ago. Due to xenoestrogens in your environment and many other factors, the average testosterone level, sperm count, dimorphism, and strength of men in the west has steadily declined. A PSL4 man today would have been considered PSL2 many years ago. And since women's biological attraction threshold is most likely static, it makes sense that they would only want "Chad" today since "Joe Average" is almost worthless. Low T, weak, videogame addicted, etc.

Obviously I understand women's hypergamous nature and willingness to swing to a better branch if she can. They all want the best they can get; However, I really think the above hypothesis may play a large role in women not being able to be content and happy with an "average" man today.

There's proof that high levels of testosterone correlate with dimophism and strength which women are attracted to.
There is also proof that the average testosterone level in the west has been steadily declining for a long time now. When doctors tell you that you're in the "healthy" range, that range is based on the average in the country regardless of what it is. 50 years ago I believe the average was something like 800 - 1000 ng/dl and now it's 300 - 600.

That's a cope. Sure, average has fallen, but not by a lot. Average gymcel nowadays is buffer than hardworking farmers used to be back in the days.
Standards juat have risen. In 2008, only 8% of men under 30 were virgins. In 2018 the same number was 27%. Have men declined so much in 10 years? No. It's because of larger influence of social media and dating apps.
