Lol, and I'm a resident of 3 of those.

Btw this is a pretty retarded way of looking at it in these studies, because they look at net worth, in most of those cities every boomer, genx and even some mullenials are 'millionaires' just because they own a home, and in many cases particularly Beijing, Shanghai, Singapore everyone is a millionaire even if they were bosses because the house prices grew so fast even shoe salesman bought houses now worth million bucks

Better way to look at it, which we generally do in the industry is either

1m liquid in a bank OR 2m relatively liquid OR cash flow of $250k annually (that one only for non USA)

Tbh each one can be explained, except weirdly enough Tokyo - relatively cheap asset prices (until V V recently), old money from 80s dried up, low productivity, low salaries. Delhi Bombay House Prices are Crazy bruh. People are Paying Million Dollars or more for 3 BHK - 4 BHK apartments.

They haven't caught up in terms of wealth creation yet, but they are.

U can still buy a nice livable apartment in an ok area for 1.5-2cr in both thise cities, or a very nice one for 3cr.

Plus it is GENERALLY just old money being cleaned, but that will change very fast.

If ur actually interested in this from a maxing perspective, and u not got wife and kids, the best way to look at it is look at one if the mercer reports that look at 'cost to live well' and 'cost to live extremely well'.

Then see in those cities what % of people make that much.

You will see the results depending on the list are totally different.

In the western cities it is easier to be in the live well list, in the poor countries easier to be on the very well list

I think Chandigarh mogs to live especially in India. You don't need to worry about floods nor pollution. But Opportunities in India is Limited to Delhi NCR Mumbai.
Bangalore and Hyderabad for tech that's it.
