In just Wisconsin alone there were 5,818 abortions in the last year. Many of these people were young, got raped or were on drugs. Yes, religion does say abortion is wrong but someone else’s belief shouldn’t be forced on anyone else. If we give women that right they won't have to go through the pain of giving birth, there will be a decrease of children going into foster care and the Supreme Court has found that abortion is a fundamental right. We live in a free country where the government shouldn’t be telling us what we can or cannot do with our bodies. Abortion should be legal because women should be able to choose what they do with their bodies. Women have the right to abort because there may be many factors of women and young children getting pregnant such as being drugged, and raped.
All across America, there are so many foster homes overflowing with children because their parents didn’t have that choice for abortion. In Wisconsin alone, “There are 6,918 children in foster homes”(Wisconsin Foster Care and Adoption Guidelines). Over half of those kids are placed in foster care because they are abused, neglected or their parents are unable to care for them. Those parents can avoid these problems by having that chance that choice of abortion. If we give women the choice there will be a drastic decrease in numbers. So many people make poor decisions these days and in the end, it’s putting the women in danger of dying.
When having a baby, women are putting their bodies in danger. According to NCBI, 50% of women suffer from back pain during their pregnancy. Back pain and pelvic girdle pain are the most common types of pain women go through while pregnant. Multiple doctors have stated, “pregnancy-related low back pain seems to be a result of quite a few factors, such as mechanical, hormonal and other pains”. Pelvic girdle pain causes pain over and around the lumbar spine. Women go through these pains when pregnant and they have to deal with it even if its an accident, they’re raped, or if they’re on drugs and incapable to take care of the child. Women shouldn’t have to go through these pains if there is another option and that option should be abortion.
The US Supreme Court has declared that having an abortion is considered a “fundamental right”. For example, “the Court has recognized that a right of personal privacy, or a guarantee of certain areas or zones of privacy, does exist under the Constitution.” , If the US Supreme court has stated this, it should then be known that abortion should be legal. If they want to abort a child, then it's their personal privacy. Also, a guarantee of certain areas or zones of privacy does exist in the constitution already, which is where the fourteenth amendment comes in. Women should be able to abort because it’s their own free will. Also, they are a US citizen, which means that they are protected by the amendments. Neither the government or other US citizens can decide what women do with their own bodies. In America, the land of the free, it is a necessity that “'free will' must govern, even in activities beyond the protection of the First Amendment and other constitutional guarantees of privacy”.
Many Americans believe that abortion should be illegal in the United States. These people believe adoption is a viable alternative to abortion and accomplishes the same result. With 1.5 million American families wanting to adopt a child, there is no such thing as an unwanted child. An abortion can result in medical complications later in life; the risk of ectopic pregnancies doubles and the chance of a miscarriage and pelvic inflammatory disease also increases.
Overall, women should have the power to abort because we live in a country that consists of free will. The free will provided by the amendments. The amendments guarantee a safe place in America and protect people with what they say or do. Also, there may be factors such as rape and being drugged to have sexual activity, and abortion will be available to them if they do not want to keep the child. The children in a foster home in Wisconsin alone was around 6,918 kids. Women should have the choice of abortion because around these days, everyone makes poor choices. Women have pains all over their body after a pregnancy; commons ones like back and pelvic pain. Women have to endure these pains even if it was their poor choice. If we take away that option than the foster kid numbers will increase and more women will suffer from the pain. The amendments will allow women to be able to abort because it protects their will and it's their own body.
