Social media, dating apps and women's participation in workforce have skyrocketed the looks threshold.

Before women mostly settle with an average or ugly guy and they would need someone to take care them. Now they have financial power and they have laws protecting them. So wealth, personality etc are out of window. Only attractive males make it out there. It is over for the rest. Genetics are the predominant factor again and top men have a harem of stacies. Women don't mind being concubine of attractive men and they actually enjoy when men they sleep is desired by other women.
