Would there ever be a scenario where a chin implant could provide good results with a recessed jaw?

My jaw is recessed and I either need a BSSO or Bimax. However it's very difficult for me to get those surgeries without sleep apnea where I live.

I do have a narrow airway and have had a sleep study done and the results came back negative. However I think my narrow airway will cause problems when I'm older.

Should I even consider a chin implant? I can easily get one where I live, however I'm not 100% sure it will provide a good aesthetic result.

I've seen one plastic surgeon so far and he said I would be a good candidate for a chin implant as I need roughly 1cm of advancement, he recommended a Torino implant. However I posted on realself and two other surgeons said that an implant would not be a good idea and that I should consider moving my lower teeth back and having a BSSO.

There are no well known surgeons where I live. I could also consider going to the United States however I don't know how the logistics of getting braces with an orthodontist would work because I assume they would need to work closely with the surgeon.

Do you guys have any before and afters of people with recessed jaws who got good results with an implant?

pretty much anyone who has ever gotten jaw implants has recessed jaws. So look at literally any result.

The question of jaw surgery vs jaw implants isnt on the basis of the jaws being recessed its whether you have functional issues or not. Functional issues cannot be addressed by implants. Its that simple. Someone who has no airway complications, doesn't have significant malocclusion and is purely interested in aesthetics would be better off going straight to implants, or a combination of implants and genio etc.

How can you assess whether you have functional issues? People on message boards tell me I have functional issues based on my cephs however no doctor/dentist/orthodontist/sleep clinic/maxillofacial surgeon I've seen has mentioned anything about my narrow airway being the cause of my chronic fatigue and cognitive issues.

First of all, listen to professionals over random board users. Second, go and have a sleep study done if you haven't already. But pay for a private one where you stay overnight at a sleep clinic and are observed throughout the night. I had one done on the NHS and it was a farce - I had to do it at home, ended up sleeping on my side and waking up several times during the night. Results came back no sleep apnea. Then I did a private sleep study and it confirmed apnea, which I already knew.

This is sort of like asking "how can i tell if my nose is broken". If you had functional issues, you'd know about it probably. People on message boards say all kinds of shit, and most of them are retarded. People especially involved in cultures like PSL tend to have obsessive ideas and that sort of thinking ends up with EVERYONe NEEDS X and Y IS THE KEY TO THE UNIVERSE and Z is a PANACEA. Go to experts with your concerns, if they cant diagnose you, then its probably not the cause of your issues.

Retards on boards "diagnose" people by looking at their pictures. Professionals diagnose people by running a battery of tests, e.g diagnostics. On internet: if you dont chuck a tantrum every day and jack off to interracial cuckold porn, you have low T bro fo sure. In real life: you go to a endocrinologist and he draws your bloods at various times for a period of weeks to actually SEE what your average blood testosterone is. Thats the difference.

No way to diagnose you here but if your jaws are truly recessed I don't think a chin implant would suffice (been there myself).

Also keep in mind that functional problems do tend to appear or get worse with age.

You need to be careful on this forum and all similar forums. 90% of users shout 'recessed as fuck!!' when they see normal faces lol. Then they'll tell you get a BSSO and lefort 3 or kill yourself.

I suspect it depends how badly recessed you are, and whether the primary aesthetic issue is a recessed jaw or a recessed chin. While these two problems often go hand in hand, one can be more pronounced than the other.

If the aesthetic issue is primarily the chin, then the problem could be fixed with a sliding genio. 1cm advancement via genio is possible. I'm recessed, and after speaking to a few good surgeons, I've been recommended genio over BSSO. However, I have a consultation with Defrancq soon, so I'm going to see what he thinks as he performs both.

It has been very well established than large 'off the shelf' chin implants tend to produce very poor aesthetic results. So, no matter what you do, I'd avoid them! Shit surgeons will recommend them because they're easy.
