'Thai boxing'or Muay Thai, is a combat sport of Thailand that uses stand-up striking along with various clinching techniques. This discipline is known as the "art of eight limbs" as it is characterized by the combined use of fists, elbows, knees, and shins.[6] Muay Thai became widespread internationally in the late-20th to 21st century, when Westernized practitioners from Thailand began competing in kickboxing and mixed rules matches as well as matches under muay Thai rules around the world. The professional league is governed by The Professional Boxing Association of Thailand (P.A.T), sanctioned by The Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT).

7 Reasons Why Everyone Should Train Muay Thai:
1) Because it gives you a great physique

If you’re looking to lose some weight, or tone your body in time for your upcoming beach vacation, then you should definitely pick up Muay Thai. Did you know that it’s the perfect full body workout? This is because it is both an aerobic and anaerobic workout, and it involves various muscle groups.

Also, with just 60 minutes of training, you can burn up to 1,000 calories. That means you’ll be melting away fat while building up your flexibility, core, as well as overall strength.

2) Because it strengthens you mentally

Apart from giving you greater physical strength, training Muay Thai would develop your mental strength, so you’ll be strong enough to overcome obstacles inside and outside the gym.

As you progress in your Muay Thai journey, you’ll notice that it forges an unbreakable warrior spirit within you. This would give you the strength to persist during your most challenging moments, and more importantly, overcome adversity. We believe that when you possess that kind of strength, nothing can get in your way!

3) Because it cultivates self-discipline

Even if you’re not the most disciplined person around to begin with, practicing Muay Thai would teach you the value of self-discipline (and of course, make you a more disciplined person). This is because you’ll learn to commit to your goals and stick to your training schedule, so as to progress as a martial artist. After all, practice makes perfect – and there’s no shortcut to mastering those techniques.

Apart from that, you’ll understand the value of hard work when you see yourself grow and move closer towards your goals. This would then motivate you to keep up the hard work!

4) Because it’s an awesome, effective martial art

Muay Thai is believed to be the most effective striking art in the world. This is because it is effective in all ranges of standup fighting. By utilizing your hands, elbows, shins, and knees, Muay Thai ensures that you’re using all your body’s weapons – be it in punching or kicking range.

Besides that, Muay Thai has been tested in competition and real-life situations for hundreds of years; hence, it’s as fast, efficient and powerful as it can be. So you can rest assured that you’d acquire the necessary self-defense skills to protect yourself if the situation calls for it.

5) Because it teaches you to remain calm

Sometimes things don’t go according to the way we want them to, and because of that, we end up stressing ourselves out. If you want to be cool under fire, we strongly suggest training Muay Thai!

Apart from giving you an endorphin rush and boosting your mood after a challenging day, Muay Thai teaches you to adapt to different situations quickly. This would help you cope better with your day-to-day stress, as well as stay calm in tough situations.

6) Because it gives you courage

Confidence is something that would come to you naturally when you train Muay Thai. This is because you’ll find yourself outside your comfort zone on various occasions, and as a result, learn to embrace the unknown.

What’s more, you’ll gain confidence as you improve and master new techniques. Hence, you’ll become more daring when taking risks – both inside and outside the ring.

7) Because it widens your social circle

When you practice Muay Thai, you’ll train and interact with people from all walks of life. Besides cheering each other on in class or at competitions, these awesome friends will always be there for you in times of need. After all, friends who train together, stay together.

They get way too hyped on it, one of my 5'7 friends was practicing moves at a cheesecake factory and it was just fucking embarrassing. Another time some 5'4 manlet at my work who does Muay Thai was talking about being the "bodyguard" when a few coworkers were talking shit about a rude customer that came in

From what i've seen it's just a cope sport to make manlets feel powerful lol

I wanna start doing some kind martial art
But in my small ass city there's probably only judo and jiu jitsu

I’ll look more into it bro. You think it’s more worthwhile than just regular boxing?

Definitely bro, its like traditional boxing but you can use your knee, shin , and elbow.
Search for Muay Thai on Youtube and you'll see how effective it is , not even Karate come close to it.
