Perhaps by pure chance. You can speculate that every consciousness is one but fragmented. The universe experiencing itself. Idk. Nothing points to that though. In a coma your brain pretty much stops activating, therefore your consciousness fades. You don't remember anything from that point onwards because you (your consciousness) doesn't exist in that moment. Your consciousness doesn't go to la la land where all consciousness resides, or heaven, or whatever. When you die it'll be like that. Eternal coma.
