I myself am not a follower of religion and have many times said I don’t believe in god. That’s a lie, everyone believes in a god/gods. God/s is always related to religion but the truth is everyone worships someone or something subconsciously. U assume that faith is just a patch for gaps in knowledge but Christianity was never based on flawless human interpretation of ancient texts. It based on the life, death, and resurrection of a real person, Jesus Christ, in real history. Thats the foundation not every detail of ancient cosmology or flood geology.

Ja there are literal parts of Scripture and there are metaphorical, poetic and symbolic parts too. That aint muh coping, thats basic reading comprehension. No serious theologian claims every single verse is literal or should they. The Bible was written across centuries, in multiple genres, to different audiences. It’s complex bc life and God are complex.
And as for the idea that the Bible should be “scientifically perfect” thats a modern expectation imposed on ancient texts. Ure asking an ancient, theological book to behave like a science textbook.
