yes the psychology part of it is somewhat true but also they make up their mind in most cases upon seeing first pic, just like IRL. they just tap further to shittest ur not actually subhuman but if you just dont have more pics, but they liked 1st pic they will still swipe you right and may ask for snap/insta to verify ur not subhuman
