if anything the winters here are too mild for them, most of these mountains freeze over deeply and the plants are covered by several feet of snow. They survive winter?
You live in NL? What temps there during winter?if anything the winters here are too mild for them, most of these mountains freeze over deeply and the plants are covered by several feet of snow.
oceanic 8B climate, gets down to -15 celcius here once in a while but it's usually around 0-9 celcius during the winter with mild dips below freezing at night. often no frost at all.You live in NL? What temps there during winter?
-40? They could survive Nordic winter I thinkoceanic 8B climate, gets down to -15 celcius here once in a while but it's usually around 0-9 celcius during the winter with mild dips below freezing at night. often no frost at all.
most of these plants are hardy to like -40 celcius.
I have plants from the arctic, and from the mountains of northern europe.-40? They could survive Nordic winter I think
That looks small. Have you thought about having plants indoor?I have plants from the arctic, and from the mountains of northern europe.

Why you don't like tropical species?View attachment 2061274
I have some random shit indoors but there's not a whole lot of tropical species that I like.
too many people grow them so they're boring. Why you don't like tropical species?
Mountaneous species fit the bill?too many people grow them so they're boring.
I prefer species that have almost no information on them, barely known to science, and critically endangered.
yes, the least studied plants are alpines and parasitic plants, but the former is virtually impossible to grow in cultivation, I am trying though, managed to establish one species so far.Mountaneous species fit the bill?
why impossible?yes, the least studied plants are alpines and parasitic plants, but the former is virtually impossible to grow in cultivation, I am trying though, managed to establish one species so far.
parasitic means they live off other plants, so they need a variety of host plants to attach to which is tricky.why impossible?
just get them togetherparasitic means they live off other plants, so they need a variety of host plants to attach to which is tricky.
they fail to attach even if you graft them, you'd need a colony of established hosts and then seed the parasitic plant on that and hope the seeds germinate and attach themselves because the mechanisms through which they do that is poorly understood.just get them together
Just do it.they fail to attach even if you graft them, you'd need a colony of established hosts and then seed the parasitic plant on that and hope the seeds germinate and attach themselves because the mechanisms through which they do that is poorly understood.
I have orobanche hederae established on my hederas.Just do it.
