Maybe a bit of a water thread, but it was one of the biggest revelations of my life
Growing up I always wondered why I struggled finding my identity. I thought the solution lies in clothes, interests, hobbies, personality. I thought more thinking would get me to where I needed to be. Until my illusions were shattered and I realized something.
Your face is who you are
You know why I’ve always felt shame linger in the back of my mind through the years? My face. The reason I act embarrassed and self conscious whenever someone pulls their phone out to take a picture? My face. The reason Im afraid to tell the world my opinions and beliefs? My face wasn’t good enough.
Your face is literally the physical manifestation of your soul. EVERYTHING about you is summed up by your skull. The way people perceive you isn’t by your actions, it isn’t even by your words. It’s by how you appear.
A mugshot of a 2/10? Guilty piece of fucking shit, throw away the key. Mugshot of a 8/10? He didn’t mean it, everybody deserves a second chance.
It’s not even something we think about, these split second judgements happen under the surface of your conscious mind, it’s an evolutionary instinct because deep down all we care about is good genes.
So your potential, your value as a human being doesn’t lie in a skill, a talent, or some obscure character trait. No. It lies in you. Your face.
